Sand Springs Saloon & Steakhouse: A Rustic Culinary Haven in Frostburg

Visited the restaurant on a Thursday for lunch. Chose this place based upon a number of recommendations from those who could be considered locals. They recommended the steaks which would have been too heavy for lunch, but we ventured over nonetheless. The menu offered good variety. My mother (who seems to be my current dining companion) and I ordered sandwiches, a burger for her, with sweet potato fries at an up charged fee, and a chicken Chesapeake sandwich for me with garlic parmesan truffle fries which came with an up charge. I ordered my sandwich with a fried patty which was dry, instead of the baked/broiled/boiled chicken breast. I also had a bowl of the crab and lobster bisque. Both of the meals were good. But, the service was great! Maybe we should have ordered the steaks... give them a try.

Well Thanks DESTINY for being an amazing waitress. Being a first timer I was welcomed with love and a bubbly atmosphere. I started with the phenomenal mushroom top oh such a delight . MY MAIN course was 8 ounce flat iron steak with sweet potato instead of the fries . NOW a special prayer into heaven for the hands of the chef best steak I've ever had in my LIFE wow browned away with the flavor .To top it off Destiny recommended the pumpkin spice cheesecake .I WILL be back again and again .

For anyone who is visiting Frostburg State University, I highly recommend coming to this restaurant for dinner. Had a hard time choosing what to get cause everything sounded fantastic! But I ended up getting the baked potato soup. It was the best I’ve ever had! So rich, creamy, and delicious. I got the crabby fillet with a baked potato and a salad. The salad was fine but the steak and baked potato stole the show! Not a fan of corn bread but that’s just because of personal preference. My boyfriend got the New York strip, salad, and French fries and said his meal was fantastic too. Service was great. The waitress was kind, helpful, and took great care of us. Definitely coming back to this restaurant!

Went to dinner for my birthday. Had the Cajun Chicken and Shrimp with sautéed mushrooms, with Cajun cream sauce, sweet potato fries with maple syrup. Also had the Buffalo Chicken dip appetizer with soft pretzels. That was amazing! It was absolutely amazing food, so delicious. The service was excellent, waitress was wonderful.

Arrived around 6 pm on Friday night. Did not have reservations and was directed to sit at the bar. Bar tender was fantastic and the prime rib was perfect.

I ate here with my girlfriend today, and I must say, the Maryland seafood did NOT disappoint! I highly recommend the Chesapeake fries. That crab dip really was something else! The restaurant looks very nice and there's no loud music. Our waitress was very welcoming and courteous. We has a fantastic experience here and we'll definitely come back! Love from Quebec, Canada

Had a delicious buffalo chicken dip grilled cheese! I definitely recommend that dish to anyone wanting to try something new here. Bread was crispy but still soft!

Stopped here for the first time on our way back from morgantown. The staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the steak and it was seasoned and cooked so perfectly. My daughter ordered the cheese steak and also got chocolate cake for dessert. Everything was wonderful!
